Eleven Injured as Two Trains Collide Near Białośliwie
A regional Polregio train struck the rear of a PKP Intercity service near Białośliwie on June 25, derailing carriages and suspending traffic on the Piła–Bydgoszcz line. Around 200 passengers were evacuated.
On June 25, 2026 at 18:04 CET, two passenger trains collided near Białośliwie railway station in Piła County, western Poland. A Polregio train collided into a PKP Intercity train. Around 200 passengers were evacuated, at least eleven of whom suffered minor injuries.
The Polregio service, operating from Piła Główna to Bydgoszcz, collided rear-end into a PKP Intercity service running from Białogard to Warsaw East. Upon impact, the Polregio train derailed, which also resulted in the rear carriage of the Intercity train derailing.
Emergency Response and Disruption
The official fire-service report said 11 people received medical assistance at the scene, while 3 men were transported to hospitals in Piła and Chodzież. A temporary shelter was organized at the Volunteer Fire Brigade station in Białośliwie for people waiting for onward transport.
PKP PLK, Poland's railway infrastructure manager, said trains would resume only after the condition of the line and railway facilities had been checked. Technical teams were sent to inspect the tracks and related railway infrastructure for damage. Traffic on the Piła–Bydgoszcz route remained suspended through the night. The circumstances of the collision will be established by a railway investigation commission.
If you're traveling by train in Poland—particularly on regional and intercity routes—allow extra time for connections, especially to airports or international trains. Rail punctuality has declined slightly in 2026, and disruptions like this can cascade through the network. Check real-time schedules on the PKP Intercity and Polregio apps or websites before departure. Most operators provide alternative bus transport during major line closures, but these can add significant travel time.
