Tesla Plans 3,500 New Jobs at Berlin-Area Gigafactory as Production Ramps

The US-Elektroautobauer Tesla is setting on a rapid expansion of production in its German factory near Berlin, with forecasts of significantly rising production volumes in 2026 compared to the prior year. Tesla announced its goal to increase production in Grünheide to up to 7,500 vehicles per week—which would equal 375,000 annually—and expand battery cell manufacturing. Altogether, 3,500 new jobs are to be created.
The Investment Push
Tesla plans to hire more than 1,500 employees for battery cell production in Grünheide and will invest more than 250 million US dollars—around 220 million euros—to enable an output of 18 gigawatts per hour of battery cells annually. Tesla plans to bundle all parts of the value chain in Grünheide, which is described as unique across all of Europe.
The Tesla subsidiary closed its 2025 financial year with a higher net profit of 77.1 million euros, representing a gain of about 20 million euros compared to 2024.
