Rail Strikes Disrupt West Midlands and London Northwestern Routes July 10–11
The TSSA union's industrial action on Friday July 10 and Saturday July 11 will cause significant disruption to train services, with reduced timetables and no trains running after 7pm on Friday. Saturday services will start from 7am and may extend into Sunday morning. Ticket acceptance and refunds available.
Commuters and travellers on West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway face substantial disruptions over the coming weekend due to strike action by members of the Transport Salaried Staffs' Association (TSSA). The dispute centres on rest-day working arrangements between the union and the Department for Transport.
Service Impact
On Friday 10 July, most services will end before 7pm with some final departures in the afternoon. No trains will run after approximately 7pm. On Saturday 11 July, services are expected to start later than normal, departing from around 7am. Both days will see significantly reduced timetables across affected networks.
Sunday morning services may also experience disruption because trains and crews could be out of position following the strike action. Ticket acceptance is in place with alternative train operating companies including Chiltern Railways, Great Western Railway, and Transport for Wales on specified routes.
What This Means for Residents
If you're planning to travel on these routes over the weekend, check journey planners immediately as timetables are still being updated. Passengers whose trains are cancelled can claim a full refund or use eligible tickets on Thursday, July 9, or Sunday, July 12, subject to operators' conditions. Allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative transport. Rail operators strongly urge customers to check the latest updates before travelling.
