Poland to Equip 12,000 Schools with AI Labs by July
The Polish government announced plans to provide artificial intelligence laboratories to 8,000 primary schools and 4,000 secondary schools by the second half of July 2026, as part of a major push to modernise education.
On Wednesday, the government announced its plan to provide AI labs to 8,000 primary schools and 4,000 secondary schools by the second half of July. The initiative represents Poland's effort to accelerate technology adoption in education, particularly as the country lags behind European peers in AI implementation.
Catching Up on Digital Infrastructure
The announcement comes as Poland, one of the European Union's lowest adopters of artificial intelligence, steps up efforts to invest in domestic AI companies, development centres and education, with the government in recent years implementing a plan to modernise schools' digital infrastructure using funds from the EU's post-pandemic recovery programme.
However, a 2025 report by the Educational Research Institute (IBE PIB) found that only 55% of schools met the minimum standard of one computer per six students, while 27% lacked Wi-Fi access and just 1% had AI labs. The new programme aims to address this gap rapidly, bringing cutting-edge technology to classrooms across the country within weeks.
What this means for foreigners in Poland: If you have children attending Polish schools, they will soon have access to AI technology and digital learning tools that were previously rare in the education system. This accelerated digitalisation may improve the quality of STEM education and better prepare students for tech-oriented careers. Parents should expect schools to begin integrating AI-related curricula and digital literacy programmes into the standard timetable starting this autumn.
